Strategy for 2025-30
The strategy is a document that guides the association's operations and provides instructions to the association's board when considering the goals for the term. The strategy enables the setting of goals in the long term and thus helps the association to strengthen its operations to ensure the continuity of the association's operations.
Introduction
Viikki-speksi is a cultural, equality and environmentally responsible organization. Cultural sustainability means preserving cultural issues such as languages, traditions and customs. Equality means the equal status and treatment of all people regardless of a person's characteristics. Environmental responsibility means the effort of an individual or community to act in the best possible way from an environmental perspective, according to the individual's or community's own competence and the possibilities offered by the operating environment.
Viikki-speksi ry is a non-partisan, non-profit.
Vision
Viikki-speksi ry is a young and attractive organization that produces an annual musical theater production, speksi, and offers free recreational activities on the Viikki campus of the University of Helsinki. Viikki-speksi influences society and promotes local culture in accordance with its values.
Viikki-speksi ry stands for open and safe hobby and organizational activities. Viikki-speksi's activities are a safe haven and a counterbalance to students' everyday lives, and the activities are guided by the desire to support the well-being of its members. Viikki-speksi is to be a musical production that is open to everyone and easily approachable.
You can be confident that the environmental and climate impacts of the activities organized by Viikki-speksi have been minimized.
Mission
Viikki-speks's operations are supported and its continuity is guaranteed through sustainable financial and association management. The association promotes ecologically and socially sustainable operating models in the cultural field.
Participants from all backgrounds are welcome and equal treatment of all participants and non-discrimination are essential requirements for the activities of our association. Viikki-speksi ry operates in a way that supports human rights. Open and sufficient communication both within and outside the association is key to the development of the association's activities.
Viikki-speksi operates in the best possible way from an environmental perspective and thus reduces its environmental burden.
Set of values
The association's core value is to promote appreciation of culture and understanding of the work required to produce it. Viikki-speksi ry's sponsors and other partners do not guide the association's principled operations or choices.
Our Speksi has the principles of intersectional feminism and anti-racist values. Intersectional feminism refers to understanding and taking into account the accumulation and overlap of forms of discrimination in our activities. An intersectional perspective also takes into account the historical context and entrenched inequalities. Key anti-racist actions include, for example, a clear anti-racist line that is visible from the outside and the visibility of anti-racism in common operating rules. Systematic intervention in racism and open discussion also support the association's anti-racist activities. Viikki-speksi ry does not accept any kind of bullying, discrimination or harassment. Equality regardless of characteristics is the basic pillar of our equality activities.
Our strategy emphasizes sustainable consumption and actions aimed at minimizing consumption. By choosing environmentally friendly practices, we often also choose a responsible and ethical way of operating, which is one of the most important values of Viikki-speks.
